Caring for People
Our Vendors
We care about our people, our environment and our community at Mackay Sugar, and this includes the many suppliers and contractors who work with us. Mackay Sugar purchases goods and services from more than 500 local vendors, contributing more than $784 million to our local economy on average each year.
To ensure the safety and alignment of our vendor network, we apply comprehensive application, onboarding and management processes that create a foundation for strong working relationships and shared outcomes throughout the terms and conditions of our engagement.
Suppliers & Contractors
At Mackay Sugar, we recognise that at the heart of sound health and safety management sits our ability to control risks, maintain worker awareness, good due diligence, and ensure systems and processes are audited, reviewed and improved on a timely basis to remain effective.
Mackay Sugar sites have comprehensive Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Management Systems that detail the requirements and standards that must be adhered to on a daily basis. Our HSE Management Systems and Electrical Safety Plan provides the guidance to ensure that these requirements continue to be satisfied, monitored, and audited for compliance.
The handbook outlines the systems and processes adopted by Mackay Sugar to ensure the health, safety and welfare of all personnel and to prevent harm to the environment. The document is supported by procedures developed under the HSE Management Systems and Electrical Safety Plan. Specific procedures or systems have and will continue to be developed to address the requirements of the Workplace Health and Safety Legislation.
This document is also intended for Contractors who are engaged to provide services and undertake work activities on a Mackay Sugar site.

Supplier Forms
As a supplier or contractor to Mackay Sugar you will be asked to complete the following documents:
Supplier Code of Conduct
The Mackay Sugar Supplier Code of Conduct sets out our expectation of suppliers in respect to modern slavery and social responsibility generally. Mackay Sugar may exclude future dealings with suppliers who do not meet our expectations. These processes and controls are managed through our adoption of:
a. the Human Rights Policy;
b. the MSL Supplier Code of Conduct;
c. supplier information requests; and
d. contract documents and supplier terms and conditions.
These documents establish a framework to identify and address potential or actual risks of modern slavery in our supply chain and the expectations of our suppliers and workforce. We are in a continuing process of updating our purchase order terms and conditions and our contract documentation to ensure suppliers are aware of our expectations. We expect our suppliers to comply with all relevant legislation and to notify us if they become aware of a modern slavery risk in their own supply chains.
