New Executive Leadership at Mackay Sugar
Mackay Sugar, Australia’s second largest sugar producer, has recently welcomed two new leaders to its executive team. The appointments follow last months’ announcement that Carl Morton had stepped into the top job as Mackay Sugar’s CEO, and both new executives bring fresh expertise and perspective to the company.
Warren Waples, previously with Cement Australia, joined Mackay Sugar on Monday 4 November as the company’s new General Manager of Operations. Mr Waples brings 30+ years of operations expertise to Mackay Sugar after having worked across a range of large manufacturing and supply chain-based companies. Throughout his career, Mr Waples has developed extensive strategy and leadership expertise and is highly committed to improving safety outcomes by applying discipline to operating standards, with a “boots on the ground” approach that is relatable to the workforce. Mr Waples has already spent much of his first few weeks out with our employees in the factories and we are eager to see the positive change he aims to bring to our business.
In addition, Adele Lorimer stepped in as Mackay Sugar’s new General Manager of People and Culture on Monday 11 November. Mrs Lorimer brings a wealth of experience and expertise to Mackay Sugar, underpinned by a drive for change and innovation. Mrs Lorimer is a proven leader with a passion for driving team performance through accountability, empowerment, and caring for people, and is a forward-thinking and performance-driven senior leader with extensive experience in delivering sustainable transformations for people and processes. Mrs Lorimer’s mantra of “the shadow we cast” is already being positively seen and felt by Mackay Sugars workforce and we are proud to have her as part of our team.
Both Mr Waples and Mrs Lorimer have moved straight into leading and delivering Mackay Sugar’s strategic masterplan, and people and performance objectives, alongside CEO Carl Morton, CFO Robin Stinson, and General Manager Commercial and Agriculture, Brent Casey.
